A tie is a rather strange garment of clothing. It really has no purpose. It is merely an accessory. Instead, try hanging the tie up in the bathroom when you are taking a hot steamy shower. If you do have to use an iron, check the tie very carefully and determine exactly what fabrics it consists of. You do not want to scald or burn the material. Steam is often the best solution for removing any wrinkles in a tie.

Learn to tie a tie correctly. The most common knot used is the Windsor. You can tie either a half Windsor which is a small knot or use the full Windsor. Either one is fine, but learn how to do it. Do not simply have the tie tied for you and then remove it leaving the knot in place for its next use.

Good ties are expensive but they can last for years if you take good care of them.
